About
Blind Willie Wagtail

Blind Willie Wagtail bring together four respected Australian blues and roots style musicians into a high energy take on authentic Retro-Blues and Rockabilly. We take inspiration from the styles of Blind Willie McTell and Blind Willie Johnson - the prewar blues slide guitarists of the 1920’s and 30’s. Combined with the electric edge of the 1950’s blues players like Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf and with an added twist of magic from rock’n’roll legends Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis. Blind Willie Wagtail are known for energetic, high-energy live performances and are popular in the Northern Rivers and Southeast Queensland regions of Australia. The name is also a clever play on words, as the real bird, the Willie Wagtail, is a small black and white songbird famous for being "blind" at birth before its eyesight develops.
